I've been over-socialized lately. I love to know people, but I'm definitely an introvert and it takes a lot of energy to be around them. And the last week has been massive doses of people. Dates, talks, parties, meetings. Not to mention a sick kid to take care of.

So today has been a quiet day, thank god. Kids gone to day camp, Hollie gone to post-birthday celebratory spa day, house to myself. Telecommuted to work. Went our for Thai for lunch and read a book in the restaurant (one of my favorite ways of asserting my by-myself-ness). Sunned myself in the backyard while working on my laptop.

Introvert Man's Batteries Recharging. beep ... beep ... beep ... DING. (That's a Wall-E / Apple startup chime reference. LJ posts should really come with sound effects and background music.)

Ha, we are TOTAL OPPOSITES! I don't think there IS any such thing as "over socialized". I hate quiet days. Going out to a restaurant ALONE would be horrible, horrible punishment for me. I feel my Extrovert Chick batteries draining quite rapidly when I'm alone and they can only be charged by a trip to the grocery store, coffee date, etc... Innnnnnnteresting!

Dude, you are CA-RAAAAAAA-ZY. But that's okay. :)

If only I could be an antisocial misanthrope I would be perfectly happy, but unfortunately - I like people. So that means I have to save up all my energy in order to be around them for awhile, and then I'm all tuckered out and need to be alone again.

I'm with you except for the introvert part. I'm semi-outgoing.

I still need copious amounts of downtime between functioning:

[1] at work
[2] on the board of my condo ass'n
[3] as mod of panic_anxiety community on LJ
[4] as housekeeper
[5] as spousal unit (although there's re-energizing forces at work here)

I was on the board of my condo ass'n for a year, and then president the next, and man was that terrible. I definitely feel for you on that one. At that time of my life I didn't have many local friends, though, so much less socializing and much less introverted draining, so it all worked out, except that it sucked. ;-)

I've been treasurer since 2003. Got tired of the way the board was run and got elected both president and treasurer in 2007 (our governing docs allow for this combination).

As you well know, director/officer positions in a condo ass'n is a thankless job. But the president's role is a huge wad of major suckage. Not only does that role deal with residents, the managing agent, lawyers, vendors, etc ... but also tries to lead a board of directors. Herding cats would be much easier.

After warning the board 4 months ago that I would do so, I turned down the nomination for president at last week's annual meeting.

I'm looking forward to the relative relaxation in my sole role as treasurer again.

Thanks for the information. I think that you should wash your face at least 3 to 4 times a day. You’ll be surprised how much better your face will look.
